This past week I attended a fabulous workshop at Bald Head Island called Learnfest. Not only did I have a great time, learn from the the best women in the industry, meet tons of great people and make some new friends, but I also have some exciting things in the works for my clients!! So much fun! :) Can't wait for you all to see in the coming months!

I have been super busy (as usual) getting settled with my new husband Mike and embarking on a few new things. I have a wedding this Sunday that I am really excited about and will be blogging soon with more details!

It was crazy-windy on the island--maybe because there was a tropical storm on the way!?! Glad I made it onto the ferry before the storm got too bad! Also, props to my dad for calling my mom and I to warn us about the gas shortage before we headed home to Charlotte--we promptly topped the car off before heading home!

Ahh, I'm back so soon--not used to this are we?? :)

I had the opportunity to shoot a BEAUTIFUL wedding a few months ago up in Raleigh, NC at the North Carolina Museum of History. Jayme is a cool, funky bride and had such awesome ideas for decor and theme. She and Joel spent a lot of time planning their wedding and you could tell from the sophisticated touches at the reception.

Katie and Matt---Engagement Session in NoDa!!!

I'm baaaaccck!!! Finally, right? Geez, I have not blogged in years, but Mike (my new husband!!) and I have been busy getting married (yes! I am a married woman now), going on a great honeymoon, and setting-up house (that sounds so 1950's).

Thank you to all my brides and couples who have been so supportive while I have been out of town and now I am back in action, taking care of orders and blogging :)

I did Katie and Matt's session back in May. We were originally scheduled for late April, but it kept raining and so Katie and Matt so kindly rescheduled with me.

When Katie told me they wanted to do an engagement session, I was pumped---I LOVE engagement sessions---I feel like I get to know my clients better and by the time your wedding rolls around, we're like old friends :) When Katie told me they wanted to do their session in NoDa, I was more pumped than EVER because I love NoDa. It's a cool little niche in Charlotte, with old glamorous buildings that are painted in neat, funky colors. I really had a hard time picking out which photos I wanted to blog, so I may just do a slideshow later so you can see them all---they're just great!

Katie and Matt are getting married in October, so I am excited about their upcoming wedding!

relay for life at UNC Charlotte

Today is such a busy day for me...(which is not unusual...), but I had class this morning, now I am getting ready for my own engagement session pictures with Mike :) We are having them done in downtown Charlotte and I am so excited!

Then after that, I am heading over to school (UNC Charlotte) to photograph Relay for Life. This is the first year that Relay is being held open to the public and you can come register anytime! Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and individuals can sign up and even create a group if they want and you walk from 6pm til 6am the next morning to raise money for cancer awareness, research,etc. I've participated a long time ago and this year I am taking some pictures and donating the proceeds of my shots to Relay. So come out tonight and help me raise money for cancer!!

Guess what?!?! As if you couldn't tell from the top of my blog, I got a *NEW* logo!!! I am so pumped! I have anxiously been awaiting to find free time to upload it onto my website and blog and it's finally here! I looovvvveee it!

Patrick Gavin of Buckethead Studios designed it for me and I couldn't be happier with it. Julia's Bridal Portrait Session in Rocky Mount, NC

A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of traveling to Rocky Mount, NC (had never visited before) to do a shoot with Julia. Julia is actually getting married on April 19, so her big day isn't too far away! This was probably one of the coolest shoots I've ever done...

We did most of the session on an old plantation...that has over 500 acres!!!! And it's for sale....I sooo want to buy it...hehe

This was the coolest house ever: it had great light, beautiful details and plenty of options for pictures!!! I had the best time!

Julia, thank you so much for letting us visit for the weekend and for letting me drag you all over the property! I had a great time and I hope your wedding is spectacular!!! <3

I graduate in exactly TWO months....that's all I have to blog about today....I'm so excited......!!! Just wish I didn't have so many little assignments between now and then....ahh, I'm almost free :)

Engagement Session with Kelley and Kyle!

Over a month ago, I got to shoot a great engagement session with Kelley and Kyle. We when met for a consultation, I hoped they would book me because they are such a sweet couple. Kelley is an awesome bride because she knows what she wants and she already gotten so much planning out of the way, which is a good thing because she and Kyle are super busy...probably the busiest clients I've ever had!!!

We actually went to 3 different locations, which is awesome, because I was able to get lots of great shots with cool backgrounds. Here are a few from the day:

I cannot believe how long it's been since I last blogged....I mean, where did the month of February go? Seriously? Hmm, well hopefully soon I will get back in the habit of consistent blogging after graduation (woohoo...!)

So what have I been doing these past few months? Traveling, (and homework) to say the least! Also, I've been shooting some awesome engagement sessions and wedding pix. I will have those up soon. First of all...I will post some fun pix of when Mike and I went to LA (that's right, warm, sunny, Los Angeles) over Christmas break. Except that it was not as warm as I thought it would be...they were apparently having one of the coldest winters in years and I failed to acknowledge it and chose to freeze in flip flops and the like.

I have never, ever been to California, so Mike and I downloaded the typical California-ish songs to listen to on the plane...you know, like, Phantom Planet's "California" and "Hotel California" by the Eagles and some Beach Boys stuff.

We never would have been able to go if Mike's brother hadn't offered to let us stay with him for free! So, we got to hang out with Jon and Fran (Jon's girlfriend) and got to do the typical LA scene things, such as cruise around Rodeo Drive looking for stars ( didn't see any), drove up and down the Sunset Strip, which, by the way, has it's own website....I never knew a road could have it's own website! www.thesunsetstrip.com

If you check out the nighttime section of the Sunset Strip website, you will see The Standard Lounge and that's where we *partied* on New Years...or more like ate a bunch of cheese and fruit because that's all we could afford and practically missed the countdown because of the long line at the bathroom!

We also drove through Hollywood and went to Graumman's Chinese Theatre and saw the Hollywood Walk of Fame. By the way, if you ever go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and you are looking for a particular star, be sure to look it up ahead of time ( I didn't know you could buy a map specifying where the stars are) and it will save you a LOT of walking. I was on a mad search for Marilyn Monroe and we walked about 2 miles before we saw her star (which was near where we started...I thought Mike was going to kill me!)

A few weekends ago I did a set of headshots for my friend Jessy. We are in school together and we are literally counting down the months, weeks, days, hours til graduation (OK, maybe not hours...well, actually, I am....!) and Jessy is looking into grad school anddddd modeling for commericals, etc and has already gotten a few gigs! She just got her hair cut in this cute little bob so she needed a few updated headshots.....

The birthdays just never stop in our family! Today is Jacksons birthday! He turned 5 today.....I feel soooo old when I think about how old he is. Since I missed his birthday party, I took him out for a milkshake and brought Jackson his birthday gifts.

Some of you know, some of you don't know, but as of 5 months from today I will be getting married!!!! Mike and I have actually been engaged since March 2007 and have patiently been waiting to finish school to get married.....and FINALLY it is 2008 and the countdown can start!

We are obviously very excited to be getting married and relieved that most of the planning is out of the way....there are still a few small details to hammer out, but for the most part, all the "big" things, like the location, "THE" dress, the cake, the flowers, etc, etc have been selected!

Today is my sisters birthday! We all gathered at our parents house for dinner, cake and presents. Heidi is actually training for a half marathon and ran 9, NINE, miles this morning (at like 6am) on her birthday!!! Umm, that is so not for me.....but she looks pretty great to have ran all over Charlotte this morning :) Heidi, I hope you had a wonderful day......I love you!

Today is my dad's birthday.....now, I'm not going to tell you his age.....I don't think he checks my blog, but if he does he might not want me blasting his age all over the internet , but he is still pretty young :) Here is a picture of my dad from his birthday last year......we're going to have his little shindig birthday party this weekend because in our family, birthdays are kind of a big deal

A few weekends ago, I got the chance to visit Raleigh for the weekend to get some shots of John and Jessi. John actually went to high school in Tennessee with my fiance, Mike, and they both ended up coming to college in North Carolina....because North Carolina is so awesome :o)

Sarah's Bridal Session

Over a month ago, I had the pleasure of taking some pictures of Sarah. I actually went to high school and college with Sarah and her mom was my French teacher in high school! Sarah has a cool degree in music education and has the most beautiful voice....I wish I could sing well!!!!

We actually did Sarah's shoot at Frank Liske Park and I think they turned out so great! She also has the most unique engagement ring I've ever seen.....It's heart shaped!!! :)

My Best Friend's Wedding!

On September 1, 2007, one of my closest friends since junior high got married!! Jenny and I first met on the track team at good ol' J.N. Fries Middle. Jenny was (and still is!) a superb athlete....I, on the other hand, was trying out just to fill in the season before softball started up again. While I was huffing and puffing and basically passing out at practice, Jenny would always race by me and cheer me on....and it always made my day :) So, we started off as just "track team friends" and then we became "hallways friends" and then we became best friends! Jenny is still the most motivated person I know....when she says she is going to do something, she goes right out there and gets the job done, whether it's in school or work or sports. After high school we ended up going to separate colleges and I missed her dearly but we always made sure to take roadtrips to each others university.

Jenny ended up going to Carolina and along the way met Nick. Nick is such a cool guy, with a great sense of humor and he is the strongest guy I've ever met!!!! And then one day in Mid-May I get a phone call from Jenny....."I have some news for you.....I just got engaged!!!" Well, she should have warned me, because I was actually driving when she called me and I was so happy for her I almost ran off the road!!!!

Nick and Jenny had a short summer engagement because they knew exactly what they wanted: they got married at sunset on Oak Island Beach and had the reception at her parent's beach house.....and I got to be a bridesmaid!!!!!!!

NYC Trip!

In late September, my fiance, my parents and myself all hopped on a plane and flew to NYC for the day to watch the Yankees play in the their last home game of the season! Luckily they won, but unfortunately they didn't fare well in the post season and now manager Joe Torre is gone and I am pretty sad about that!!!!

Anyways, my parents had never been to New York before so we walked around, looked at the sites, and then took the 4 train over to the Bronx to watch the game. We had great seats, great weather and an all around awesome time!!!!

Leah's Bridal Session

I have been a bad blogger! I shot these pics of Leah back in September in Marion, NC on this beautiful farm. And what a HOT day it was.....that morning I left Charlotte and it was already in the high 80's, but I figured it would be cooler in the mountains....but it was in the mid-to-high 90's! Leah was such a good sport though and we tried to keep her out of the sun as much as possible! Afterwards, Leah, her mom and myself ventured around Marion, checking the salon that she would be getting her hair done on the wedding day and looking at their beautiful church....the downtown area on Marion is such a neat place!!!

Leah was one of my roommates from UNC-Charlotte and she has now graduated, gotten an awesome job and is getting married is less than 2 weeks! Congratulations Leah and Jason....thanks for letting me grab these awesome bridal shots! :)

There were several gazebos on the property and a very pretty lake that actually still had water in it even though we have not had rain in forever!!!

This dog kept following us around and laying right next to Leah....at one point he sat ON her dress and Leah's mother and I had to carefully pull him away.....he even followed us down onto the gazebo! Luckily, nothing got on her dress!!!!

Anna's Bridal Portrait Session

These are a few shots from a bridal portrait session that I did with Anna back in July. She was married in early August and I must say I had a hard time picking out just a few shots to post because they were all fantastic. Anna is super photogenic and has a beautiful smile! I first met Anna on a University Honors Program trip to Washington, DC....before our trip I didn't know Anna at all, but after I met her I knew why: she is always really busy! Anna is working on two degrees and will graduate in May, she also has an internship with a great company, is planning a wedding, working as a nanny and is a leader in the honors program.......so, she stays pretty busy, yet always makes time to stop and talk to people! I think that is such an awesome quality to have!

These are a few engagement shots of Shannon and Drew and they are from the spring! Shannon and Drew are such a sweet couple and I've known them both a long time through school. They just got married in June of 2007. We all went to college at UNC-Charlotte and I actually photographed them in the gardens at school.....The gardens are beautiful and tucked away behind the arts and sciences building....you would never imagine this would be in the middle of a busy campus!! Congrats Shannon and Drew! Hope the married life is treating you well :)
